Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter this year’s awards!

We received 300 awards entries this year – meaning that for the second year running we saw an increase of 25% in entries overall. The year-on-year increase in the number of entries is a reflection of the growth of the UK impact economy, and the increasing interest in using digital innovation for social purpose.

As a result of the increase in both quantity and quality, our judges have had their toughest job to date in narrowing down the entries to a final three across 12 categories.

A two-stage judging process this month has seen our expert judging committees vet entries across our three overriding themes of people, society and business. Then last week, our grand jury met to agree the finalists in the 12 categories.

Our judges used five clear criteria in making their decisions – idea, product, team, scalability and impact – with impact the most important of the five.

As well as naming three finalists in each category, this year for the first time we have identified promising ‘ones to watch’ in each category. We’ll let this group of entrants know shortly.

We will unveil the 2019 awards winners at our Impact Awards event on Thursday March 7 – for the second year running at east London’s iconic Oval Space.

Winners receive a laser-etched trophy, presented on the day. All 36 awards finalists will be invited to join our growing programme of support and networking across the year to come.

At the 7 March awards event, we celebrate the best of UK tech for good with a professional audience of 250+ innovators, investors, policymakers, academics and more. We promise a cracking afternoon and evening event that breaks with the conventional ‘black-tie-and-table’ awards format.

As well as unveiling our category winners, we will have great speakers, including Tessa Clarke from OLIO and Paul Miller from Bethnal Green Ventures, sharing their stories alongside a tech-for-good innovation showcase. For the third year running, Oli Barrett MBE hosts alongside DigitalAgenda director Julian Blake. More awards speakers will be confirmed in the coming days.

The awards event also builds in good time for guests to connect, particularly at our evening reception, where we’ll also be giving out our coveted people’s choice and individual impact awards. Voting for the people’s choice award goes out to a public vote for a month from Friday 1 February.

All 36 organisations named as finalists receive one complimentary ticket for the awards.

You don’t have to be a finalist to attend the awards event – we want to welcome guests from the whole UK tech-for-good community. We’ve frozen our ticket prices to keep the event affordable for those who want to come. Find out more and book your tickets via our Impact Awards ceremony page.
